For as long as I can remember I wanted to work with children, and began my career as a nursery nurse after leaving school.
My role working with children has varied during my career, and I have worked within children and family services, supporting families who have experienced different trauma’s and difficulties.
I always wanted to become a Play Therapist. Working within different professional bodies and systems didn't feel right as I didn't feel I was able to meet the children and family’s needs in the way I believe to work best.
My journey into therapy began and I completed level 2 in counselling, this provided me with the basic understanding of counselling and developed my person-centred approach.
Following this I trained as a Person-Centred Play Therapist, which was really life changing. Not only did I grow as a professional, but I changed as a person and I am truly grateful to have been able to take this journey. This also was the first time I experienced personal therapy, (being a requirement of the course). I was lucky enough to find the right counsellor for me, and now years later I consider counselling to be a personal gift to myself, recognising there is nowhere else I can experience the conditions of therapy than within a counselling relationship.
I am passionate about being able to offer the same therapeutic relationship to others, as everyone deserves to be listened too, understood and not judged.
My therapeutic journey continued, and I completed a BSc Hons Top up Degree in counselling, specialising in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Grief and Loss.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to BACP’s Ethical Framework. Safeguarding is an essential part of my role, and any child protection concerns will be managed immediately.
