school based therapy services main image

Play Therapy can help children and young people who are experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties, often impacting on their classroom learning.

A package of support will be negotiated with the school and tailored to the school’s individual needs. Sessional work will be considered, however I offer a competitive price for full days where up to four children can attend therapy during one day.

  • Adoption support can be used to access this service.
  • Pupil premium can be accessed to use this service.
  • Play therapy for up to 4 children per day.
  • Group work for up to 4 children who are finding things tricky, (such as friendships, self-esteem, confidence, bullying etc…) to allow them to relate to others, and understand they are not the only ones with similar problems and work through difficulties together.
  • I am available for any advice before or after play therapy.
  • Supporting teachers and staff to understand children’s difficulties and the meaning behind what the child may be communicating through their behaviour and explore strategies to help the child access learning more positively with better self-regulation.
  • Staff supervision where staff can explore children’s difficulties and offload any work-related issues in a confidential space. With the many pressures school staff face daily, many schools value this service.
  • If a child is absent from school this space can be used for consultation or to observe another child, they may have concerns with.
  • Therapeutic parenting support – I believe in working holistically with the child, parent/carer, school and other professionals for the best outcomes to be achieved. It is important to establish positive relationships with the parent/carer to allow them to feel supported and understood. Helping the parent/carer to understand the meaning behind a behaviour is useful within their relationship, and parenting advice will be offered, and when appropriate signposting to other services may be required.

Please contact me for more detailed information about the service available and an information pack will be sent out to you.

Alternatively, if you would like to speak in person, a telephone consultation can be arranged.

Referrals
A Journey Through Play accepts referrals from parents/carer, teachers, GP’s, social workers, adoption support and other professionals.

Please note written consent will be required from the parent/carer before the play therapy begins.
